If any of you get a chance could you please let us know where and what plane you were assigned? Also if they gave you any info in class as to where future newhires will get based. I'm most interested in finding out if anyone got Atlanta and if you've heard if any future hires will be getting Atlanta.

I've been in the pool for a long time now, and I'm trying to figure out if there will be any kind of strategy to getting Atlanta...e.g. defer class until they start basing new hires out of Atlanta. After waiting this long it would just be a kick in the a$$ to finally get on with ASA only to commute from ATL to DFW, which I hear is pretty tough.

If anyone else over at ASA has any more info, I would appreciate it. It's getting close to decision time and I want to make the most informed one I can. Thanks.

Vacancies for the 3/15 new hire class were all CR2 DFW. There were no vacancies in ATL, nor are there expected to be any. The only vacancies in ATL have been on the CR7, and those are going fairly senior. I wouldn't expect to see any ATL vacancies for new hires except for maybe an oddball ATR spot. Don't hold your breath or defer class for an ATL base. It isn't going to happen in my opinion.

Never, ever, defer a class date as a new hire.

Seniority is everything is this business.

No $hit...I was thinking the same thing.

Take the first class available, go to DFW, and put in your transfer.

Two things you do not do in this business. Pass up upgrade, or pass up a class date. DO NOT defer your class date. You won't have to commute from ATL to much anyway..Just on your four golden days off of reserve.

Houseboy- The way I understand newhire pay if you are DFW based you will get per diem while in training. So, not only will you get first class room at the Red Roof but an extra 1100. 00 in your check.
So, in training, you get 75 hour at 19.02 (1426.50) plus an average of 710 hours of per diem (which is 24/7). While in training you will make before taxes ~2490 a month.
The commute will be a pain. Good luck-
