Any body get an emails from www.pilotjobnetwork.com? They are paying employers to use their site. I am considering becoming an employer, they pay up to $500 for each job posting. They pay for this by charging you $3.95 to look at each posting. Look at ten jobs and pay $39.50.

Here is the guff they tell potential employers:
"services
FOR EMPLOYERS

Getting Paid.

Pilots need jobs - and they are willing to pay to get them. Pilot job network is the only service in the world to provide a compensation for jobs posted by employers. Receive up to $500 per job for every job you post with Pilot Job Network. Can't receive compensation? No problem - we will donate your commissions to the charity of your choice.

Simply put, Pilot Job Network provides employers a fast and easy way to post jobs, while sharing in the revenue generated from application fees. This is how we have become the job site with absolutely the most jobs. More jobs - more pilots - jobs filled quicker. It's that simple."

I won't diss Kit this time, but . . .

The truth is you can be your own Kit Darby. The internet provides plenty of contact info for employers. Just look for the companies in which you're interested. Also, be creative. Try an internet directory information site, such as AnyWho Directory Assistance and run searches for companies.

Look in pilot magazines for names of companies. The old standbys, Trade-A-Plane and Air Jobs Digest are marginally helpful. All it takes is a little legwork and creativity.

Good luck with your (non-Kit Darby-assisted) job search.

Hi...

If I remember correctly, there was a female who indicated that she was the owner of the site mentioned and was soliciting the readers of this board for information regarding possible pilot slots available. She said that she would offer a free year membership to anyone who provided her with information.

It was pointed out to her, why would we want to provide her with this information and then pay to peruse that site when the information that is being provided is free to obtain elsewhere?

Haven't heard from her again.

Regards

Here we go again

I write a post supporting Air Inc and guys who get info and jobs there, not one response. But mention a scam and out of the wood work comes the anti Air Inc stance. Isn't Kit one of the ALPA brothers, or do you have to have a certain politically correct mind set to be a member of the "brotherhood"

Main Entry: caveat emp·tor

Pronunciation: -'em(p)-t&r, -"tor

Function: noun

Etymology: New Latin, let the buyer beware

Date: 1523

a principle in commerce: without a warranty the buyer takes the risk

Source: M-W.com

Buyer beware--you got that right!

Jump Pilot--you said it brother! And by the way, your position doesn't look so "upright" in your little picture...

Anyway, I was at an AirInc Job Fair in ATL last Oct and I heard Mr. Darby say that his definition of a pilot shortage is when a company lowers their hiring mins from, say, 3000TT to 1500TT.

He claims that's a shortage.

For myself, I'm no salty dog, but I've been in the flying game for about 17 years. After Darby's statement I just sort of raised an eyebrow and got up to re-fill my coffee. But what really concerns me is all of the hungry 300 hour CFIs that are gonna eat Ramen for another month because they laid out hard cash to listen to someone stretch the truth.

On the other hand, they did have a very nice chicken lunch and possibly made some good contacts.

I'd probably respect him (Darby) more if he took it in the shorts during hard times like the rest of us rather than having his bread buttered by desperate low-timers.

I believe that "Kit" is short for Christopher.

My .02 opinion is that union and pilot shortage are mutually exclusive. It would make no difference to me if Kit were Dave Behncke reincarnate; if he's pushing "pilot shortage" with ten-thousand furloughees not flying, that is a sophistry at best and a scam at worst.

I appreciate Mar's comments about Kit stretching the truth to low-time instructors - though, to me, it's more that Kit is shoving pilot shortage down low-time instructors' throats along with their Ramen noodles.
