Green hovering objects?

Anybody in their aviation career ever seen those big green hovering objects? I saw one in 2001 Space Odyssey, but that one was black and in a movie. Monolith I believe they are called.

Also, I thought an advantage to a helicopter was the ability to slow down, hover, and basically elevator up/down as required.

Not very realistic..................just kidding.

I don't even work and it made me late.
