Also, (the end of) this newspaper story confirms many rumors floating around Honolulu the past few months. Its kind of spooky how close Hawaiian just came to losing their 717 fleet and three 767's. Monday could have been it for them. Their lease extensions expired August 30th and Boeing held out to the last minute on Friday. Hawaiian gets another 30 days to make things happen. Nice Hula!

Hawaiian also publicly admits their intentions to re-fleet which I first posted on here as a question to Jim and HAL 4 months ago.

Meanwhile, U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Robert Faris approved restructured lease agreements yesterday between Hawaiian and International Lease Finance Corp. on four Boeing 767s. He also approved a fourth extension with Boeing Capital, which leases Hawaiian three 767s and 13 Boeing 717s. The new extension will expire Sept. 30.

"I view these extensions as an expression of goodwill on Boeing's part,"

...Hawaiian might consider another type of plane than the 717 for its interisland routes. Glasgow, in his letter to the pilots, alluded to the same thing, saying that "the future interisland aircraft is still unknown."

Some of Hawaiian's pilots have been discussing the possibility of the return of the McDonnell Douglas MD-80, which Hawaiian flew a decade ago.

I find it strange that for the past two weeks all the real news about Hawaiian has been hidden in newspaper articles focusing on some other issue.

Okay Nostradamas, how about a good stock tip?:D

Thanks Jim for filling in the real story. Accurate as always.

Since Jim and I have access to the latest info from the union and company, it's easy to separate the exaggerated rumors from the truth. However it never ceases to amaze me how much misinformation there really is out there when you hear the rumors about a subject you actually know about. It makes you stop and think about how much other false information there is in any one of the rumors we hear each day.

Please everyone - rumors are fun, but always take them with a ton of salt. Unless you know first hand about the subject, it's best not to repeat second (or third, or fourth, or twentieth) hand information.

No stock tip but the aweoweo are running. I'll bet money you'd catch a lot of aweoweo if you went fishing tonight.

I think the rumors are true, but like anything, its not over till the fat lady sings. And I hope you guys make it through this.

Lease agreements 767 & 717

Where the 767 & 717's leased at a time when Steve Markhoff was negotiating leases on behalf of Hawaiian?
He is working on some other projects and I want to know how good he is...
