Re: UNIFORMS and APPEARANCE

As a uniformed employee, you need to support all the uniform and appearance standards. In fact, it is a requirement of your job. That requirement is not made lightly or arbitrarily. For the sake of consistency and fairness, XXXXXXX Airlines, Inc. simply cannot permit variations or additions to uniforms. You have the responsibility to meet and maintain all uniform and appearance standards...

Tell us something we don't already know. Why'd you post this? We all have the same rule in our FOM's.

An airline expecting its pilots to look like airline pilots?! Well that's just crazy! I know this subject has been covered before ,but I'll add my 2 cents. The argument has been made that the uniform doesn't make the pilot. That's true, I know I can fly the RJ just as well in t shirt and jeans. (I've done it on mx test flights) However passengers judge what they see. If you look sloppy, and the passengers happen to see you I guarantee they will wonder whether or not you are a safe pilot. Take some pride in your profession and show up for work looking professional.

But you just don't understand Mr. Chief Pilot. If I wear my hat it will mess up my hair!

I just look at these guys and shake my head.

I don't need a hat to look professional, but the company pays me to wear it so I do. I would love to get rid of it though.

Why'd you post this?

I just like the hat argument and the catalyst effect it has. I admit it is getting a little stale, though. Sorry if I annoyed you.

This is a little off subject, but does anyone know of a company that makes hats that are sized according to your head size (the band part), as in if you have a smaller hat size then the rest of the hat is also smaller??? Just curious....the only reason I don't wear mine is because I look like a complete idiot with my massive hat and smaller head!!
