I was wanting to know how does someone get typed in a G350? Do you go thru G550 school and then do differences in the 350? Thanks for the help.

Worldwide's link about summed it up, but I would add that if you are going to spend the money for the 450/350 you might as well pony up the extra few grand and get the 550 differences as well and make yourself that much more marketable.

VERY good advice.

Even less expensive route, go to CAE and get typed in the Classic GV. The G-V type rating is good for the G350, G450, GV, G500 and G550.

After the type do differences training to the G550 and G450 and you've got the gammit covered.

FlightSafety doesn't do differences from "lower" aircraft types into "larger" aircraft types. In other words, no GV to G550 differences, only G550 to GV or G550 to G450. SimuFlite is different, they'll mix it up any way you want it.

The food at FSI in SAV sucks. Donuts and packets of oatmeal. It amazes me how FSI in ICT doing little Citations can put out a full kitchen of PB, cream cheese, various coffees, soup machines, donuts, bagels and ramen cups along with sodas and such, yet the big bat $$$ of Gulfstream pilots get ONE lunch table with donuts.

Except, that's EXACTLY how FSI did our GV training a few years back. We did a full initial in the classic V (after 8 years in the IV, what a snore fest) and then got a whopping 4 hours in the 450 sim (2 in the left, 2 in the right) and voila, we're signed off to fly the V, the 550, and the 450.

Basically OJT with the Planeview. Took a LOT of convincing to get them to switch it to 550/450 initial and then the quick and dirty V differences. Too late for most of us in the fleet but a better deal for the latecomers.

At least they're Krispy Kreme.....
