Anyone out there have any time operating a Gulfstream IIB?

I won't be flying one, but a flight department is shaping up for some assosciates of mine.

After doing research and running numbers on several aircraft, the GIIB seems to fit in nicely with the available funding from interested investors, average operating cost's, type of trips, destinations from the propsed aircraft base, number of people, etc.

Initial impression's make it seem like a good fit.

Any basic thoughts from GII drivers?

What percentage of GIIBs are hushkitted nowadays? How expensive is a hushkit mod for a GIIB? It's too bad really - I enjoy hearing those GII/GIIIs roaring down the runway...

I know of some GII Bs that are hushkitted, there are 2 different hushkits now available QTA and stage 3 technologies, do your homework the prices are roughly the same. They do hurt your range a little from what I have been told. 1.5 million give or take a couple hundred thousand. Great airplane, I have been flying one for almost 2 years and have had no mechanical issues that cancelled flights and system redundency is great. PTK to EGGW non-stop landing with 4000LBS, no wet footprint to PHKO from west coast, we operate in and out of TEB with no violations, (3 times a month ave).

What would a good, medium-time GIIB with hushkits and EFIS cost on the market nowadays? Any estimates?

from what I understand there is a 20,000 cycle/hour airframe but Gulfstream will do a life extention, the price of a GIIB is less than a III but more than a II straight wing. They are hard to sell so make offers, prebuys are a good idea and can cause some price haggling. The hush kits are 1.5 million or there abouts, they like fuel 28,300 lbs total. great airplane........

JohnnyP PM me -

I know of one with a fresh 72 month, EFIS, and new paint/interior that's about to come to market. I know the airplane well. Low time, too.

If you do buy one, watch out for the 5000 hour gear inspection ($250k) and the 580 bulkhead inspection.

Don't waste your $$$ on a II or IISP. the IIB is the only way to go.
