The Crown Plaza right in downtown is a nice hotel with a lot of English speaking staff. There is a large mall and open market across the street that's a great to pick up your cheap Mexican stuff to bring home.

If you've never been there, Guadalajara is not a tourist city at all and there are quite a few places around town that aren't very safe. But there are few nice places and a few sights to see (sorry none really come to mind tonight... after a few drinks). Do a search online and see what some tourist packages are available, read about where they go.

Sorry this isn't a good answer to your question, I just wanted to make sure you knew Guadalajara is no Cancun.

Figured as much. Just wondering if there was anything at all to do. Thanks for the info on the hotel.

try to stay at the Hotel Intercontinental, very nice 5-star hotel with a mall across the street. While not Cancun (a man-made tourist spot), it IS a good taste of Mexico and the hotel front desk should be able to set you up with city tour info.

try to control yourself with the plentiful women, like 7 women to one man in that town

I have been on many overnights in good ol' GDL. I have to agree that it's not a tourist destination. We stay at the Hilton (Near the Plaza Del Sol). satpak77 is right about feminitas. (sorry Kramer)

If you are a drinker, I have heard you can visit places where they make Tequila (urggg-never been there myself), however, if you are there for three days, find a way over to PVR. Nicer beaches.

Beware of the 5 peso chicken dinner.

Good luck

Ooops...HEY Volunteer ...just noticed the date on the original post. How was your three days in GDL?
