Great Lakes hiring Beech 1900 Captains.

I know they pay bad , however for some of the regional FOs getting furloughed---this could be a possibility to gain TPIC.

I would love to I just dont have the time or emotional stability right now...

You also show that you only have 1000 hours. I think you need at least 1500 to be a captain.

Regardless I hope you the best. This industry is getting pretty hairy.

Right now there's a batch of us alumni returning as Captains. For obvious reasons they'd rather have the guy with the type and the history than any Joe Blow with 1500 hours, but there's no harm in applying. Even if you don't get a declared street captain gig, you might be able to hold the left seat once you have the company-required 300 hours in type. FWIW applications from furloughed RJ guys have suddenly deluged the chief pilot en masse, so don't plan on 24 hour callbacks.

A Mesa guy and a couple Pacific Wings fellows in newhire class at the moment, all slated to be FOs initially.

To go where? I took a paycut to leave this decimated industry. I'm still 10k better off than a street captain at Lakes. The kicker is many more are doing better than me. I have about 5000 people that when (5 years) hiring gets going again, that are more qualified than me. If you love to fly, great, but don't be a slave to high-speed aluminum. Make money, save money, pay off debt, anything. There's no way you'll get that done now (or ever, really) at Lakes.

One guy I talked to left Kalitta to go back to being a Lakes CA. The beech is only fun in memories. I get flashbacks sometimes but then I think about the other 90% of the ******************** that came with the job.

what....so they can get their 1000 and move on to all the majors that aren't hiring? Keep your pride and hold out for a place where you can actually enjoy life. the wait for the major is going to be a while longer

For those regional FOs that need the TPIC so they can be ready WHEN those jobs start to hire again....this might be good info. A sacrifice now will pay off big time in a few years for some.

A sacrifice now so you can sacrifice later! You need two furloughs and two divorces to be considered a "real airline pilot." This willbe the only part of this industry that will remain the same. The glory days are over it only gets worse from here.

SJS got us into trouble let it DIE!

Where would the returning PICs be based? At outstations? Would they be given a choice? I know a former Great Lakes PIC who might be furloughed shortly who could be interested in returning.

Did the Lakes thing once.......got what I needed and never looked back. Will work at Home Depot before I would ever go back to Lakes. I am proud to have worn the shirt though!!!
