Justino

Hello, I have been out of flying for about a year now and want to return by flying with the regionals. I flew 135 cargo and did not like the conditions. I had the op to go to grad school and so I did. I am returning to flying while finishing school (about 10-12 hours a month due to $) and have CFI/II/MEI & 1300 TT 400 MEL 225 IFR. Do you guys think the regionals will still look at me? Guys like Colgan, Commutair are my targets.
Any and all responses would be helpfull.

Thanks~
A fellow pilot

Thanks thats a good idea! I have already begun the process! Plan on interviewing this december after school is over!

Justino -

What type of airplanes have you been flying or are planning to fly while finishing school? Before you apply, I would try to get some hours in M.E. if you can afford it. Current flying in M.E. equipment is going to look better on your application. In fact, Colgan says you have to be ME current and Instrument current.

Here are the requirements for Colgan:

  • Commercial License or Air Transport Pilot Certificate.
  • 1000 Hours Total Time.
    [*]250 multi-engine
    [*]Multi-Engine Current & Instrument Current
    [*]
Currently hold a FAA First Class Medical Certificate
[*]Must be a U.S. Citizen or have authorization to work in the U.S.
[*]as defined in the Immigrations Act of 1986

[*]Ability to work with the public and under stressful conditions.

[*]Must be able and willing to relocate to assigned bases.
[*]Be willing to accept and work with changes in scheduling, includingwork on holidays and weekends.

    [*]No felony convictions .
[*]Be willing to take a drug test
Here are the requirements for CommutAir, but they are not accepting apps right now. (that, of course, could change by December)

Minimum Requirements: 900 TT, 100 ME. COMM. INST, RTOP, FAA Class 1

MEL is 4 sure Key, I plan on being that guy at the FBO meeting people with ME airplanes and asking if they would like a safety pilot or MEI for free in order to log the time. I am also trying to find other MEI's to split the cost of these airplanes.

Thank you so MUCH 4 taking the time to research this info, you are much to kind.

Well I have to say tonight I flew MS Flight Sim and did the LGA ILS followed by the missed and a hold at an intersection! Have not done one of those in awhile and I nailed it!!!!
Man, I can't wait to get back into flying more!!!!

Take care

Justino
PS. the AC I will be flying are just SEL PA/28's or C-172 SPs :(
