When did they go out of business and what bases did they have? Did they make it to the Southeast?

Thanks.

Went out of business in the mid 90's. They started service in AL only to have the inaugural flight crash on approach.

IIRC they did some of the Continental flying out of DEN way back in the day, to many of the cities currently flown by Great Lakes.

They also flew out of CLE and GSO with B1900Cs...They were only in CLE for a short while in '94 and went away when the 1900Ds started showing up in Spring of 1995 They also flew out of the GSO "hub" in '95 & '96 to places like GSP, BNA, CMH, JAX and RIC. Not sure whether or not they had a crew base in JAX.

FYI...The crash in Anniston was the 3rd leg of the day on the 3rd day of the new 'Southern' operations. The Captain was supposed to be flying with the CP but because of some MX issues was placed with a new FO with only 38hrs in actual IMC...bad situation.

I remember that one. I particularly like that the check airman giving the "check" had already put a filled-out grade sheet for the flight in his mailbox before the flight. Nice.
