I want to get out of night freight(C-208) tired of being up all night(plus the wife doesn't like me gone everynight). What is the average first and second year regional FO take home pay, average upgrade etc. times. How many days are you away from home ?The questions may be vague but I am trying to get an overall picture. I have 3000/ 600 multi no jet. Should I even consider the regional route or look elsewhere. If so who do you recommend? I got back into flying after many years and am in my late 30's.thanks for your input

For Horizon, 1st year is 27K-29K and 2nd year is somewhere around 32K. It can vary with profit sharing/401K being included. Away from home 3 nights a week normally.

Explore your other options too, like was already said. Otherwise, you should probably look based on not having to commute. The pay comes second compared to the hell of commuting sometimes.

If the wife doesn't like you gone every night she definitely won't like you gone 4 days and nights out of every week...more if you commute.

At Comair I made $34,000 first year (but I flew a lot), $43,000 second year (I flew a lot less). This should go down a few thousand with the pay cuts. I am gone 18 days a month as a commuter. If I lived where I am based I would be home more. I would probably overnight in base about 15 days a month. Upgrade can be achieved in about 4-5 years RIGHT NOW, it always is changing. Hope this helps. I also think Net Jets would be a good move for you. Good Luck!

Try NetJets with that time.
NJ's? Like people have already brought up about being gone for 4 days. Netjets you will be gone for up to 7 days. So she will go from complaining you are away every night, to complaining you are gone too long during the week. Stay with the cargo for now buddy...

Netjet sucks. I have several friends & 1 ex who are there and they miss the airlines. Most RJ Captains make just as much as NJ captains. Excluding the BBJ & Gulfstream guys of course. Stick with the airlines and avoid any nasty commutes and you will have a great QOL that will blow away Netjets.

With your response, I'd be tempted to ask, "Did you get turned down for employment?"

NetJets isn't for everyone, nor are the airlines. I flew for a regional and worked for a major and I much prefer NetJets. I also like being home for a week at a time and not having to worry about commuting because when I do have to ride on an airline, I have a paid ticket.

Actually, I would say the average RJ captain makes about half what an avg NJ captain makes. Same for FO's.

As far as QOL, there is no comparison. NJA blows the regionals away. Home more, less duty, less flying, more rest, more vacation, better retirement, great food (free) and hotels, no hassling the ramp for service, and I could keep going... When you figure out one thing that is better about the regionals, be sure to let us know.

I personally have nothing against NetJets. I tried, but wasn't successful in getting on over there.
Unfortunately, youu're no longer home based, and I don't want to move from where I am currently living

regionals

Thanks for all the input, I liked Drill Sgt. Dads thread. I think I'll a start looking corporate hopefully my time are enough.

Meanwhile, I flew frieght for three years back in the mid 90's, all in the middle of the night. I miss it and would love to go back to that again.
