Anyone know of good schools to work for as a CFI/II/MEI? I'llhave my degree in june and I'm trying to get a job lined up. I'mwilling to move anywhere, and prefer a school where I can build MEItime. Right now I'm instucting at a local club...it would take meyears to break 1k at this rate!

Any suggestions?

Flying Buck I,
Doesn't OSU have a flight school? Could you instruct there?

Head to the Southwest. I've met several guys from LA or Phoenix that got 1000 hours in a year. Just make sure you realize that getting those kinds of hours means no social life and 6 day weeks.

Ohio State does have an aviation program that seems to continue to grow year after year. Look into the bigger flight schools down south and out west where you will be able to fly year round and get the most flight hours possible in the shortest amount of time, atleast that is what I would do if I was in your position.

OSU's flight program is ok, but their planes are outdated and theydon't have enough students to keep their instructors busy. Plustheir minimums for IFR flights are around 1000agl+, which is dumb whenthey have an ILS.

I've been looking at a lot of places in AZ, Socal and Texas, as well asFlorida and a few other locations. I was recommended to Pan Am,Amer. Academy of Aeronautics, and ATP...any opinion on those?

I have some good connections with a few corporations, but I wouldn't expect them to hire someone with just over 500/150...

From what I have heard ALL ATPs only hires those who have gone though the program, or atleast have taken one couse with them

No problem there - I did some stuff with ATP a few years back. Ifthere are better options, however, I'll take them. I just need tofigure out what that option is!

The Flight school that i went to and Instructed at is in Texas. They are looking for instructors. Lots of flying to be had. I instructed there for 8 months and racked up almost 600 hours and 165 multi. There IFR mins are 600 overcast, which allows for some good actual training. They allow 2 free hours of twin a month and discounts on the planes. They also have a very part time right seat dual recieved gig in a BE-200 for the Texas Farm Bureau. Beautiful King air i did it 2 times for total of just under 10 hours. Its basically a CFM training flight. Captain is a FAA Safety Examiner. If you want the info let me know.

Nice airplanes and great MX. Mostly a new fleet.

Is this a joke? Where I learned the mins were published on jepp plates

The "legal mins" published on the plates are one thing and they have little bearing to many of the college programs. Many have school specific policies with much higher mins than those published as a so-called added safety factor. 1000" is a bit excessive in my opinion but not heard of at some of these places. To each his own I guess.
