I see that some flags ( all of which i noticed are indoors) have Gold fringe around them. Could someone enlighten me as to it's significance or meaning? I've asked quite a few historians and they didn't know, so I figured a military guy might. Thanx in advance

There is an answer to your question.

Do a Google search on "fringed flag." There are a lot of opinions to choose from, including quite a few from fringe elements (no pun intended) as to just what the gold adornments to the flag represent.

I believe the best answer is that a fringed flag is one meant to be displayed indoors only, and usually in a military setting.

Thanx, i never thought of google but it was right in front of me. i was in the army and remember learning something about this in ocs. maybe google will refresh the gray matter.
