Just wanted to see if anyone on this board is going to the NBAA convention in Orlando next week?
I've never been to one but "volunteered" to do some work at ORL. Will try to visit the actual convention on one day.
Is this convention a place for the merchants to peddle their merchandise and do some seminars or is there more to it?

I'll be there

I'm in the Orlando area and I'll definitely be there. I'm mostly excited about the static display which I'll probably go to every day. I love going in all the airplanes that I'll never be able to afford.
The convention center has vendors, manufacturers, FBOs, the feds, setting up booths and giving away stuff. There are also some aircraft there...like last year, they had citation and legacy mockups, a Eurocopter, a TBM, etc., in the building. The seminars are expensive and I think are mainly for companies, not individuals. However, if you're a student, there is a netorking seminar for busines aviation that's pretty cool, and free.
Overall, it's a good time and well worth the fee.
See you at the show.

Definitely a prime networking event if you want to get into business aviation, other than flying as well. Every big-wig for aircraft manufacturer is there, as well as HR people.

I went in 1998, handed out resumes and met lots of the big-wigs. For what it was worth at that time, not much (still in college) but better than nothing.

If you are in college still, there is a corporate aviation seminar for younger folks that takes place on one of the last days. Check it out, it's a good networking opportunity. When I was there, we had the Chief Pilot for IBM, a Wal-mart pilot, DaimlerChrysler pilot and some others. Contact Jay Evans at NBAA.

Can't forget to mention how fun New Orleans was at the time, those Hurricanes kicked my a$$.
