I don't know about the rest of you but everytime I have to get my medical I start getting scared. I have never had any problems and have always been healthy but I just can't stop thinking about it until it is over. Am I the only one?

what do you guys do to be ready for the trip to the docs? do you just show up, or do you have some sort of diet you stick to a few days prior? I worry about possibly having high blood pressure because I'm stressing for no reason and worry about eating foods that change my blood sugar enough to disqualify me for a first class...

I think we all suffer from "white coat syndrome" to one degree or another, I know that I get it particularly bad myself. Fortunately, most AMEs are clever enough to realize this, particularly in the arena of blood pressure. Best thing that I've found is to try what could be best described as yoga breathing while in the waiting room. May sound corny, but a few minutes of deep slow breathing can put a dent in your pulse and your BP.

I agree with the "white coat syndrome." Remember caffeine and nicotine can effect BP as well, so don't order the black coffee and smokes breakfast. I might be a bit overly paranoid myself, but around medical time I stay away from diet sodas. Undocumented and possibly unnecessary, but I hear aspartame can blur vision. Those sweeteners have been blamed for all kinds of crap, so who knows.

well the news about the extension on our medical is great news. I don't have to worry for another six months.
