Just a quick question. Does anyone know of a good book to get a jumpstart on EFIS FMS etc? Currently a Metro Driver transitioning to a Donier 328. "Old School" to "Newer School". I would just like some beginner knowledge before going for a type. Thanks.
 
I wouldn't worry about it too much. I didn't think it was a very tough transition at all and I didn't have any prep going into ground school.
 
Don't sweat it. I went from a MU-2 to the Dornier without two many problems. It will take you a few sim sessions to get used to it, but nothing to worry about.

The Honeywell FMS is a breeze to use. Much easier than the Universal.
 
AVsoft has/had a crappy button guide for awhile but I don't know if they still sell it. If your going to be working at SYX PM me and I may be able to e-mail you some stuff.

We were running a fleet of 3 DO-328 jet's doing executive shuttles, college sports teams. I am no longer 135 but I am sure I could make a call and get you the information. Feel free to pm me if you are referring to the "jet" and not the "prop". Pretty easy avionics and set up, shouldn't be anything that will/would give you any trouble.

No worries man,

If you're current on the Metro,you'll have no problem adapting to the glass W/O preparation. Just bring your IFR skills and you'll do fine.

I recently made the transition from old Lears to new Embraers. Everyone says the PFD is easier. It's not.The PFD is a different scan, and you'll work hard to get it down. The good news is that the skills that made you a competent Metro pilot will allow you to do a great job flying the Dornier.

I made my glass transition from B737-200 to B737-700, and it was about as easy as it could be. You'll really get spoiled flying glass. The REAL b*tch will be if you go back to round dials...

My last job was flying the Dornier Jet for 1500 plus with Great Plains. The FMS was a piece of cake, especially from racking up over 1200 hrs in the Metro III/23 just prior to that working for Big Sky out of DFW. You'll do fine.
