Hey folks, Ive got a good friend who just got done with his 4 year commitment as an enlisted air force mechanic. He has been flying with me for a while and he's thinking about getting his licenses.

He is entertaining the idea of becoming a professional pilot. I tried to talk him out of it...

Do any of y'all know how and if you can apply a GI bill to your flight training. Are there any big schools that deal with the GI bill??

I didn't get my training through any of the big schools, I don't really know whats out there.

Any help would be nice!!

The GI Bill provides 60% of the cost of the training leading to a professional pilot's license. This means most every rating except Private. He will have to get a Private on his own nickel. The VA only pays for FAR 141 training. Most all big schools do the GI Bill, and some small schools do, if they are 141 approved.
