Hi folks,

I'm sort of ashamed of this, but sort of not... I gave up (nearly gave up) on flying for awhile because of the expense. Since I finished my commercial ticket 2 yrs ago I've done very little flying... have logged 0.6 (RV-4) in the last 6 months. Prior to slowing down I was instrument/tailwheel/aerobatic proficient, so hopefully that helps for something now... but I am not going out on any limbs in terms of ranking my *current* flying skills until I have a few hrs with a CFI again.

My BFR is due and I just renewed my medical and want to get proficient again. I scheduled a BFR this coming weekend with a local CFI. What I'm wondering is if anyone can give me some pointers for study topics. I picked up a new FAR/AIM, gave it a glance over... seems that the post 9/11 stuff is noteworthy (being familiar with where & how to find the TFRs). I'm not sure what else has changed, anything??

Thanks!!

I would first go up with a CFI and do some maneuvers before your BFR. Your skills and especially your feel in an airplane can diminish. Do some stalls and slow flight and a couple touch and goes as a refresher. As far as what to study, approach it like a checkride. Get your oral study guides and go through them (especially part 91 FAR's). BFR's usually are not as thurough as a checkride but knowing your stuff is a big plus and may cut down your oral time if you show the instructor you know what you're talking about. Good Luck.
