I gotta say, that's the consensus in my house. Four voting adults who have all been real impressed by Mr. Clark. I've got some good friends that served under him, and I'll take their word for it that he's a genuine decent dude.

And nobody should care what party he runs under--the party system is the biggest problem in the election process if you ask me, but then, I'm a registered independant. I'm honestly offended that my tax dollars support things like the "vote republican/vote democrat" buttons in the booths: what a well informed way to vote!

Go Clark, he'd have my vote!

I believe there was something(s) about him as a Presidential candidate in the Sunday newspaper pullout sections.

Bet if the war goes well people will propose Tommy Franks for President. Just like some did for H. Norman.

I like how his name has been in the hopper as a possible presidential candidate for a while now but he hasn't declared, allowing him to get tons of face time on CNN just prior to throwing his hat in the ring. Pretty slick, just like a former president we all know. If he had of declared, he would have been verboten as a commentator.

I'm also a little suspect about most of the 4 star guys that made their fourth star during the last administration. I'm just a reserve O4 but it seems that you make your first or second star based on your performance/community reputation but that 3rd and especially 4th are probably much more political, i.e. will you roger up and back up the president when he says that cutting your budget will actually be a good thing and that yes our armed forces can still fight 2 wars even though real spending decreased by some big amount during the last administration. Although, I must admit our guys seem to be doing very well for having had to make do with less money for training and equipment over the last decade.

I saw a few weeks ago on FNC or MSNBC that he was going to announce his run for the "Office of the President." It was a story that "broke" when he (Clark) was in a meeting or something and when he came out of the building there were some reporters there and they started to ask him some basic general questions about what he just announced and he said that he couldn't answer and that he had to make a phone call first. He made the phone call and the station I was watching continued to tape the event. He was calling CNN to see if they would let him do an interview with another station (MSNBC, FNC). Clark ended up walking away saying that he wasn't allowed to talk to the media.

What kind of candidate has to call CNN to see if he can talk to the other press, especially since he just announced his bid.....


give me a break.

Let the generals run the military and the politicians run the country......

Jim, thanks for the inside info. I probably won't vote for him, because I don't want an asshole in office, although I would prefer a competent asshole vs. an incompetent nice guy.

Don't know if this is true or not, but I read where Clark's claim to fame is being the commander when the Chinese embassy in Belgrade got bombed. To appease the Chinese government, 3,000 American jobs were shipped to China all in the name of shareholder value (sarcasm). The article also stated he wanted his pilots to fly at high altitudes which increased the chances of civilian casualties. If it is true, I'm sure we've all got our own sins (except celebrities of course).
Agree with Cliff we've got enough dynamic leaders who only care about their self promotion.
