Suprisingly low pay for the equipment. I guess the new scheduler is a pain in the arse. Good bunch of guys though.

older info but...

pay 80-90K to start as F/O

GIV, CL604, BBJs, (Globals?)

John Joyce Chief Pilot (?) seems like a very nice guy to me

1 day interview, if they are interested you do a sim ride at FSI TEB (?)

Heck of an operation at KSWF. Seems like a good group.

good luck.

Hey flyboy, perhaps you're the pain in the arse! 99% of all schedulers I've ever worked with or who worked for me made a concerted effort in assuring that pilots were all treated as equally as possible when it came to scheduling their trps. It's those whiny pilots who always have a reason they can't take that pop up who are the ones making everyone else's life difficult, not the schedulers.

I get really bent out of shape when I read this kind of accusation. Look in your own backyard before you blame schedulers for your misery.

PMVULB, Well said. Common sense told me that if you go in from day 1 and treat the schedulers with with respect, your life will be a lot easier. Pilots need to understand the scheduler does not work for them, they work for the orgizination. The scheduler is not there to assign pilots trips at the pleasure of the pilot, they are assigned at the pleasure of the travel needs. Get sideways with the scheduler, and you'll get ALL the junk trips. A person that has issues with the scheduler at every place they go says something about the character of that person. Those types are usually rude to wait staff and have digested more waiter's spit than they know. Once you have the attitude that "there are no good schedulers out there", then your ship has sailed and you should take a long hard look at why they ALL pick on you. A scheduler will make or break your life outside the airport, and the sooner that is figured out, the sooner you'll finally be around (not on a trip) for your kids Bday party, get that extra day off on for a long weekend, or finally get the good trips.

I've NEVER declined a pop up trip. I even get more than my far share since I live the closest to the airport. I've never complained at any of the trips I get. I would say maybe it is only my problem, but when every pilot in our organization has a problem with individual than I think he is the problem. I don't think he works for me. And I"m not rude to wait staff!!!

What kind of schedule do they run over there? How far can you live from the airport?

You gotta admit... there are a$$-i-9 dispatchers and there are awesome ones... I'm glad that we have really cool dispatchers.. makes life easy for everyone..

Thanks for these comments PMVULB. I've worked dispatch and still help out on occassion when needed. The majority (NOTE: this doesn't mean ALL), of pilots don't realize how much work goes into to setting up the logistics of each and every trip. Although at some companies, the pilots book hotel rooms and such, but at most companies this work is already done for you. I have always wanted to have my pilots sit in our office for a week just to watch them crumble under the pressure of putting all those trips together (scheduling crews, working around vacation days, arranging transportation, hotels, customs, permits, approvals, catering, dealing with mechanicals, etc). Sometimes this has nothing to do wit it, and people are just genuine @ssholes, but think about all the work that is being done before you even get your itinerary.
