GA rental near Elmendorf AFB?

I'm going to AK on TDY for a few weeks. I figure what better place in the union to do some sight seeing type flying? Looking for low wings, but I'll take what I can get. Any good rental joints you folks would recommend?

I don't know the terms but they do have a pretty big aero club there, you mey be able to rent right there on base.

The aero club there is pretty good. I was an instructor there for a while. The only low wing is a seneca though. Merrill Field has a few places also.

Why the low wings? Don't you want to look down? It's Alaska, dude -- live dangerously!

Take Flight Alaska, and Aerotech are both at Merril Field. The only low wing I now of for sure is a Cirrus at Take Flight. There is also Arctic Flyers at Lake Hood, they've got 150s and a 172, but I don't think their insurance lets you fly the 172 by yourself.

Cool, thanks. I figured there'd be a good aero club on base, but no one from my outfit knew for sure. Sounds like I've got a few options in the area.
