TORCH LEWIS "GOES WEST"
Torch Lewis, the 2002 NBAA Platinum Wing Award-winning commentator and 1997 NBAA Doswell Award recipient, died at home last week in Florida after a long illness. He was 80. "Torch's Greenhouse Patter column in Business & Commercial Aviation was an institution, as was Torch himself. The business aviation community has lost a great friend and one of its staunchest defenders," said NBAA President Jack Olcott, "We will miss his deep voice and sharp wit." Due to declining health, Lewis missed the NBAA 55th Annual Meeting & Convention last September, which would have been his 50th consecutive attendance.

Very sorry to hear of Torch's death. I have enjoyed reading his column in B/CA for the last 20 or so years. He was a pioneer in corporate aviation who had a unique way with words. He will be sadly missed.
