How do you guys check to see that you are not going to an airport that you will have problems with your airplanes wingspan, and MTOGW, etc. I was at APF the other day and saw a note on the 10-9 chart stating planes exceeding 75000 MTOGW not authorized. Problem is, it was the 10-9 chart, which aside from landing distances, I don't study too hard within range. Is this my problem, need to study the 10-9 chart more before departure, or is there an easier trick? Thanks for the help.

Dude,

A quick look at the 10-9 chart and the Airport & Facilities Directory right when your boss says "Let's go to ...." is in order. Waiting until it's time to go seems a bit behind to me.

So drop me a PM and let me know your impressions of the G-IV. I've had my first few flights and my impressions are far from what I expected.

there are many ways to check:
AIM Facilities Dir
Jepp Airport Dir
UV Air trip planner
http://www.airnav.com/
when in doubt call airport Ops

there are others as well

Gulfstreams OK in KAPF last time i checked. :)

The G1 and GIV is the only Gulfstream currently allowed at KAPF. The GIII and GII are Stage two(edited) and not allowed, and the GV G550 are not allowed because of MGTOW limits.

I haven't looked at a AFD in years. I don't think I have done anything "a little behind", seeing how I have never had a problem. I guess I need to change my ways. I always checked the Aquikwik prior to flying as Captain in the Lear, but I don't remember ever seeing anything about wingspan max. and MGTOW exceedences there. Is the 10-9 chart the best place to look or are some of the others listed above by the marine better. It just seems like there are certain airports that have special criteria that is adnormal, such as no Stage 2 or less, voluntary noise abatement procedures, wingspan issues(wish I had these), MGTOW limits, etc. and it seems like they should be put in a place often looked at. We don't have a subscription to a AFD or the Jepp Airport Dir. at our company, maybe it is something we need to do. The UV Air Trip book, is awful, if its the one I am thinking off. It doesn't even tell you where the FBOs are located on the field, and the order the airports are listed in was frustraiting to say the least.

Thanks for the advice or suggestions.

Every time we go into Scottsdale we just pull out the Gulfstream sticker.

When the Ramp guys/base ops people ask about our max gross weight we point to the Gulfstream sticker, which of course says MGTOW 75000lbs.

How does that work?

Scottsdale used to have a wingspan restriction as well as the 75,000 max weight. GIV's slipped in by just about a foot of the winspan limit. A couple years ago, the limit was yanked (or maybe its still there?) and the 75,000 lb was still enforced, but any damage caused was taken out of the hands of the airport. So now, gulfstreams can have a placard that pretty much says it will be < 75000.

someone back me up on this if I'm wrong.

Unless they have hush kits, I don't think G2/3's are Stage III.

No dispatcher means bum covering is up to the PIC. The Jeppesen airport diagram should have all the pertinent information; if you're goin gto an airport without one you have to look at the AFD.

Calling is also a good idea. I was supposed to go to Nevis once and Jeppesen didn't have a 10-9. I asked for whatever they had and trip planning sent me the text information. Covered? I thought so. But it turns out you can't land at night without a local checkout, which wasn't on the text information, and Jepp trip planning didn't know. If I had called the handler I would have found this out.

You can't be too careful....
