An acquaintance is looking at a G200. Has Gulfstream worked the bugs out of them yet and has the dispatch reliability improved from where it was a couple of years ago? I'm typed in the 200 and have about 600 hours in them, but it's been over two years since I last flew one. We had an early serial number and it was always breaking down - I've been stranded in some of the most beautiful places on this planet.

(Yes, I know that it's not a Falcon 2000 or 900 and it's not "real" Gulfstream, but it's not priced like one of those either.)

Our hanger patners fly a low serial number Gulfstream 200. Since Gulfstream has taken over from IAI they have had much better dispatch realiablity. Overall they are very happy with their Gulfstream.

I also believe, IMHO, that their dispatch realiblity is so good because they have been taking the airplane exclusivly to General Dynamics in MSP for all inspections. The guys there are very good at working on this particular model of Gulfstream. They were only one's that could fix our Astra.

hey did I fly with you?..:) ..

Yes, they are like every other IAI product - "a lot of bang for your buck" and "they run great if maintained perfect"..

They are cheap on the market for a reason - the people who bought them were sucked into a cheap product, learned a hard lesson, and are now probably REAL Gulfstream owners.

Friends dont let friends buy Galaxys (or G200s)

Personally I think they fly nice - but its gotta start and get to the end of the runway first - and thats a lot to ask of a G200 sometimes!!!

G2's certainly aren't the newest and greatest equipment in the sky, but they still serve the purpose they were built for. Im not a mechanic or a G2 pilot, but I personally wouldn't necessarily call them a cheap product. The owner of our company here in southern Alabama owns 2 G2's (both just very recently RVSM'ed). One is the workhorse, while the other is his exclusive private jet that flies for no other purpose other than to transport him around. He doesn't seem to have any complaints about the jets. Then again, when you're worth as much as he is, then you don't worry about the $6,000/hr operating cost to fly them.

Tater Salad in Southern Alabama (I love it man)

G200= IAI Galaxy, a result of the aquisition of Galaxy by Gulfstream..... aka the biggest mistake Gulfstream has ever made.

GII = G2 aka a "Grumman" by the nursing home crowd - they love that that "I fly the Grumman" as they hike up thier pants at the FSI free lunch buffet with the boys..:D .

anyhow, I cant think anyone can argue with the proven yet dated G2.

How can one NOT love an airplane that makes that much noise!

:) .
