Anyone had any experence, or know anyone who has, with the G200? I haven't heard much about them aside from what I read in the press. Heard a rumor that the boss is considering replacing our C650 with one.
Thanks.

I flew one for a little while...

VERY nice flying plane when its running......thats the trick.....when its running...

I think as the program progresses it will get better, but dispatch reliablity was very very poor.

Keep the citation or buy a real Gulfstream (my opinion)

G200

The G200 is a work in progress. It's dispatch reliability of 97.5% is well below the Gulfstream standard of over 99%. However, Gulfstream is committed to the product and is working to improve reliability as well as to reducing weight by 400 lbs to meet Netjets requirements for range. The G200 is the most cost effective airplane in the super mid-size business jet category and is innovational in that it went through development without a physical prototype. Before you make a buying decision, get in the G200, look at the large, roomy, flexible cabin design and do a demonstration flight to see how well the airplane meets your requirements.

97.5% dispatch reliability is a far fetched figure, I dont care WHAT Gulfstream puts out. Out of the 50+ A/C in operation a while back, I have seen more than TWENTY in MX in KDAL at ONE TIME. Many (including ours) were in MX for more than 60 days at a time. Many were simply left there, traded in on real Gulfstreams.
It certainly is a work in progress, and flies very nice when it makes it in the air, but 97.5%!!!!! Not even close.......
Give it a few years, It will be a good plane...

G200

97.5 % dispatch reliability is an accurate figure through October 30, 2002. This number is reported by customers and is verified through Gulfstream warranty and CMP programs. It is still far below what is acceptable at Gulfstream. The company has been diligent in the effort to bring the Galaxy up to Gulsftream reliability standards. As you know the G200 is assembled by Israeli Aircraft Industries in Tel Aviv and flown green to Texas for completion. The quality of completions at the former Galaxy Alliance facility was not acceptable so Gulfstream dismissed the 400 workers there and moved completion and service to Gulfstream Dallas, a former KC Aviation facility known for it's quality. By applying Gulfstream Quality Metrics, Galaxy reliability has and is improving. Cycle times have been reduced from 14 months to 4.5 months. Gulfstream now has 10 service centers for the G200. The company has launched a 24/7 Airborne Product Support program for AOG aircraft that will launch a dedicated G100 to any place in the US or the Carribean to repair a grounded airplane. The company has formed a select team to shepard G200 entry into service headed by the same man who oversaw GV entry into service. As I stated before, Gulfstream is commited to ensuring that the G200 is a quality product. While it may not presently offer the same availability as the G-IV/G-V family of aircraft, it will. With the assets dedicated to this project, my bet is this will occur sooner rather than later.

I agree, give it some time and it may be a very successful product. It packed a lot of punch for 20 million. Great stand up cabin, decent speed. Our pax were very comfortable (until we had to tell them it was broke!!)
I hope it does well, so far as I can see the only benefit to Gulfstream is that they are selling GIV's and GV's after they pick up stranded G200 owners!!!
So back to the original question....should this guy/gal recommend his boss replace a reliable Citation with a G200?? Not if he wants to have a job in a year!!
just my opinion!!

I think if you named a turd "Gulfstream", GVFlyer would defend it to the death! (Which appears to be the case here) ;)

Lessee... Gulfstream announces the new G-Turd. American made. State-of-the-Art. Features include: More aromatic - Better consistency. Simplified - no moving parts. Never looks weak. Available in a variety of natural designer colors. Advanced design using Computational Fluid Dynamics, CAD and CATEA to achieve the lowest impedence taper in the industry. Environmentally friendly - Guaranteed Bio-degradeable. Backed by the Gulfstream warranty. No trade-ins.

How'm I doing?

For a couple of $Million more you can step into a G-Turd SP!!

It's so fast it's been known to leave skid marks, primarily designed for the Mexican market!
