Hello,
I'm a NWA furloughee.
I think it would be nice to have a furlough section on this message board for us to network or just find out what the other guys and gals are doing. There are going to be people on furlough for a long time (I estimate another 4-5 years for my recall) and even after I'm recalled I realize a second or third furlough in my career is possible.

What do you think?

Curt

I agree...

It would be nice to hear what other furloughees are doing to pass the time. Also, it would be useful to keep track of recall rates at other airlines. I know ExpressJet has started recalling and there is a rumour that CAL may following suit.

The 'Furloughed Pilots' section could take the place of the 'Military Transition' section. Not much is going on over there anyway.

Furloughed

I, too, have been released from "the last job I will ever have" and have moved on. I previously retired from the military before my 2+ years as a gear-swinger...and decided to go back on active duty from retirement. I do not currently fly...decision to stay where I live and not fly vs move and get to fly made for family reasons and kids who have moved their whole lives. It was an easy call but I miss flying after a 20+ career. The things that we learn from a furlough is what is important in life and that we are a talented group that easily adapts. Good advice given to me was ... don't wait by the phone. Take care of your family and yourself...consider yourself sorta like a "poolie plus"... you have interviewed, you have been hired, in some cases you have been thru training and flown the line. Good luck to all...stay informed...keep the faith.

Good idea

I'll create one for you guys this weekend.

I think it is a good idea as well........unfortunately, I fear it is going to become another area packed with Delta vs Comair, and other "everbody is stealing my job" arguements.

Hopefully I'm wrong.

hopefully not

Well, that is what the moderators are for...to keep it on subject. We'll watch it and see what happens.
