Frontier Airlines Holdings, Inc. Announces Plans to Purchase and Operate 10 Q400 Aircraft, Expand RJ Service

Operation Will be Managed byLynx Aviation, a Newly Formed Subsidiary of Frontier Airlines Holdings, Inc.

"Frontier Airlines Holdings, Inc., which we will call “The Company” moving forward, is excited to announce that it has signed a purchase agreement with Bombardier, Inc. for 10 Q400 turboprop Aircraft to add to its fleet. The aircraft will be purchased and operated with its own operating certificate by a newly formed subsidiary—Lynx Aviation. However, the new operation is still very much a part of Frontier Airlines and our growth strategy. Jeff stated it best in the press release when he said, “This aircraft purchase will enable our service to grow by giving Frontier access to regional leisure and business travel destinations that were previously inaccessible to us but are ideally suited for the economics of the Q400. Our goal is to bring the Frontier experience to under-served markets using a comfortable, state-of-the-art new aircraft, and the Q400 is the perfect aircraft for that mission.”
The new operation will eventually generate about 300-400 new jobs. In fact, as the new subsidiary begins the startup phase, a handful of Frontier employees may be recruited who have certain skills and knowledge that are critical to the process of obtaining the operating certificate. But before you decide that you want to be one of 300-400 new employees of the Q400 operation, know that the pay scales will be those of a regional operation.
In addition, we also announced that we would begin looking for a partner(s) to operate as many as 20 RJs for our Frontier JetExpress service. As you know, our current operator is Horizon, but our contract calls for nine aircraft and no more. We feel that there are opportunities that we are missing because we don’t have the additional aircraft we need."

we got this big news at work this morning...i love working here and i think we are a strong airline, but this makes me really nervous...any body wanna share their thoughts?
