Free File Converter for Macs

Sorry, I could not find the non-aviation related link on this website anymore. Anyway, I tried doing a Google search on a free download (For Macs) that would convert an .avi file to .wm4 or .mpg, etc. No luck. Most were free trials or for PCs. Can anyone help me out?

I've had good luck with ffmpegX which has an unlimited free trial. I just can't pronounce or remember the name.

I use VLC media player. It's not a converter but it does play .avi files.

I use QuicktimePro for conversion, though I can recommend Flip4Mac for playback for all windows media files in quicktime. It is of much better playback quality than the age old windows media player for mac. You can get it here: http://www.flip4mac.com/pr_06_01_10a.htm

As far as converters go, if you can't find it on versiontracker, it doesn't exist: http://www.versiontracker.com
