I have heard that some fractionals require their pilots to carry a credit card that they have to get based on their own credit. Is there any truth to this and if so, can they actually turn you down if you do not "qualify" for a credit card? Thanks.

At Flight Options it is a company card for Hotels and a personal card for other expenses such as rental cars and taxi.

They get the money back to you the next pay period after putting in your expense report but I would still rather have a company card for that.

They did ask for me to put fuel for the aircraft on my personal ViSA card since the FBO didn't accept the Multi Service card when we were out of the country. When I refused they found another card and arranged payment really quickly.

2 options at NetJets.

1) Your Card

or

2) The Company Card

Your choice...

1) Your card - How long does it take NJ to reimburse for this?

2) Co. CC - If you use their card, do you still get the "points" or rewards?

Can you describe the pros and cons of each. Thanks

At Flex there's one company card for the hotel, and another personal one for other expenses.

Netjets Co card is a use all on the road kind. I enter everything on my lap top on the company sight and submit all receipts when I get home. It takes less than a week to get all my tip and per diem money wired to my bank. We get 40000 miles a year to use on any airline. It a Capital One card. I used my own for 5 years and I averaged about 10-12 days for my money, but I was CMH based so the snail mail didn't take as long. Hope this helps.

I use my own card for my on-the-road expenses. Reimbursement is usually pretty quick. I think the cutoff is Wednesday afternoon for a payment on that following Friday. So far, the only problem I've had with getting reimbursed are some over-zealous or bungling auditors but that's not been too much of a problem.

As for pros/cons, the company card protects you against identity theft and fraudulent charges however I think there is a cap of about 40,000 points/miles on it per year. That said, some people report that there are ways around that limit. Using your own card does have a certain liability with it, however you can rack up a lot of miles/points. And when using your own credit card, you can submit paper expense reports instead of being tied to the company's electronic expense report system. That works for me because I don't carry a computer with me on the road and I can tally up my expenses each day on the paper form much more easily.

You can do a search on here and find even more debate on this topic - it's been discussed before.

I have had to get new credit cards 3 or 4 times due to identity theft or credit card fraud.

I switched to the Company Card.

It happened again with the company card but was no hassle for me.

Points aint worth it.

geez, maybe you should keep a tighter reign on your cards and your personal information.

So you're in BFE, and ordered by the company to take a $300 long distance cab ride. You have $70 in cash left, so you use your credit card. The cabbie reads the number over the radio, for all to hear. Far fetched? Not at all. I've seen it.

How about employees at a restaurant, hotel, airport, etc., copying your card number or taking an imprint?

When you're doing dozens of credit card transactions all around the country (or around the world), moving tens of thousands of dollars a week, the likelihood of having your number scammed goes up dramatically.

I use the company card as well.

Can someone from FlexJet or Shares explain how they do theirs, please?

You get a hotel card and a company card for everything else. You can get the points off the company card if you want to pay the annual fee. Both are in your name but neither of them show up on your credit. Or you can use your own for everything but Hotels(thats direct billed to the company)
