Let me start by stating I do not post very often on this site. Instead, I read, laugh and mostly enjoy all posts. Your inquiry about TAB, Gulfstream and the like has prompted my response. First, I will say that I never enrolled in one of these schools. I did have the unfortunate opportunity to fly at the now defunct ATA in Orlando, KORL. I had three friends from ATA join TAB when they moved to Deland in 2001/2002. Micth and Steve(recruiters and TAB) are both former ATA employees who developed their used car salesman act when I was at ATA. They WILL tell you ANYTHING they believe will sell you the program.
I completed my instr. rating at ATA and decided to leave after speaking with several people that pointed me in another direction. This is what I hope to do with you.
My three buddies at TAB....are not flying today. Why? The promise of a job, interview and all the other BS never happened. Yes, a few persons may have "made" it, but the majority do not.
I completed my CFI for about $19,000 less than Gulfstream and $60,000 less than TAB would have costs me. Frankly, that is a lot of money. Can you afford a Lexus or jag right now? Would you go down to the lot with your wife today and buy one? If you answered no....then WHY in the world would you give these crooks your cash? CFI, jumpers, banner tow, checks they all will get you what is most important...experience.
As a flight instructor, I had really learned about my own abilities and others. I met some awesome people who have shaped me into a RESONSIBLE, SAFE AND MOST OF ALL, HUMBLE pilot. The fancy ads are paid for with broken dreams and bank accounts.
I currently work for a regional and now fly the EMB 145 and you know what? The guys I fly with always talk about the good ol days as a CFI or flying checks and how we used to scare the sh!t out of ourselves.
What will you talk about if you choose the "Fast Track"........loan payments?
