I'm in the process of packing for my ioe trip on the bravo and I'm hoping to get a few questions answered tonight so I don't show up looking like a jackass. First of all is the bags situation. I've never packed for more than 4 days, and I'm trying to keep my uniform in its pressed condition. Would it be too much (either for the bravo cargo, or TSA/airline) to bring a standard roller, garmet bag slung on the back, and a small laptop bag? If too much, could I get by without the laptop bag? I know in HPN I saw a CS pilot with a large bag, large garmet, and large duffel. I'm guessing he wasn't on the Bravo though.

Liquids: I'm PHX based, does anyone have any experience with the fine TSA representatives here? Will I have to do the baggie, or can I leave it all in like my 121 days? Can I use the crew line?

Checklists: Am I supposed to bring my standard checklist and my Citation normal/abnormal checklists with me?

Flight schedule: It's 7pm eastern time and I'm supposed to be starting ioe tomorrow. Should I have an email or a phone call by now letting me know my airline info? Or should I be making some calls? No word as of yet.

Thanks all for the info, I'm pretty excited. Going to be a whole new world I can tell!

Less is more. Wear your uniform, it makes life easier and you wont need the garment bag.
Don't know PHX so I would do the baggy thing. It is different at every airport. Many airports let you use the crew line. Don't know about PHX but give it a try.
Dont bring checklists they are onboard the Bravo.
Call Scheduling at 2000 tonight if you haven't heard anything.
Welcome to CS and enjoy.

Congrats on CS! I hope you get your questions answered.

I hear the Bravo is fun to fly. As a Bravo pilot based out of PHX, is it more likely that you will be flying throughout the West Coast most of the time? I understand that you could fly anywhere or could be flown to an idle aircraft on the opposite coast at any time.

Another small thing... unless you airlined a lot with your last job you will probably get SSSS on your ticket which means you get extra screening so you might want to show up a little early because I had SSS on a ticket home one time at PHX and it was the most thorough search of my life lasting over 20 minutes. They went through my dirty clothes bag!!! Oh and i second chasmo. Wear your uniform. It makes everything easier and you can get the airport discount on your food. And for the crew line question... if you look like you belong somewhere then you probably do. Have fun and always call scheduling if you have not heard anything by 8pm local.

To answer your other question, all the hotels we stay in usually have irons and such, so you can do that at night and not worry about them getting wrinkled in your bags while traveling.

And by all means, use the crew line.

I work for brand "F", but here is my take:

I try for 6 day schedules, always wear the full gear from ride out to ride home. I pack two extra shirts, and one extra pants. Allways have an iron at the hotels, so I can touch them up.
Go thru either crew line or first class line, everybody seems a lot friendlier when you're in uniform.
I just airlined home from Phoenix after a live leg from Napa Valley. Had the two free bottles of vino in my bag, mentioned it as my bag went through the machine, the guy said, "no problemo, you're crew". I have never had problems with a water bottle on the side om my book bag.
I do get the SSSS when booked on Continental. Every single time a screener will ask "why are you here, your company can get you out of this". I never complain, just go with the flow. They got a job, so do I. I think this makes it a lot easier on them, because so many guys do bitch.
Also, most time the SSSS get me through a long line faster, as they pull you out of line and send you to the head of the class. So, I clear faster than the guy way back in line.

Good luck, I enjoy the job. Hope you will too.

I'd stick with two bags.

Get your drycleaner to iron and box your shirts NOT. I wash shirts at home and iron them in the hotel. Depending on the time of year, you probably don't need 7 shirts. Wear the blazer to get through security, then hang it in the closet until it is time to go home.

Get a large computer bag or backpack. That way you can fit some spillover from your rollaboard into the computer bag.

Ive gone through PHX a couple of times without having problems with my liquids. Actually, I recently flew in my street clothes and TSA didn't say anything about the liquids in my bag. Im not sure if that was an oversight or if the rules have been relaxed.
