I'd like to get based in Dallas, but according to the recruiter, only Burbank, Oakland, and Phoenix are open for Lances and Portland is open for C-402/Navajo. So...here's some questions I'd like to get answered before I have to make a choice (if i get that chance...)

-What would be the best one to take for upgrade to the 99 as soon as possible? -What would be the best one to take PERIOD for QOL reasons/cost of living?
-I am interviewing for the April 4 class...any chance Dallas would be open by then for a Navajo slot?
-Could I move to Dallas as soon as it opens?
-I heard seniority is by base, does this mean I can't upgrade to a 99 at another base without going back down to the Lance?
-When they say Portland is for the 402/Navajo, do you just take the one aircraft that is open or is it a dual aircraft type place?

I've asked a lot of questions on some previous posts, but I'm trying to get more specifics now since I may have to be making some choices if selected.

Thanks!

- Burbank and Oakland have higher turnovers, so you could see a '99 earlier
- Portland is a good base; no singles; you would either be in a 402 or a PA31, not both....402s are on the way out of the door; it is a slow moving, fairly senior base...meaning a '99 would take a bit longer
- seniority counts within a base but company wide as well, so if you switch base you can fly whatever run or plane your seniority holds, but you have to commit to the base for 6 months

all the chieftain spots in dallas have just been filled, but you never know. anyone of those guys could get upgraded into the 99 or e120 anyday.

-What would be the best one to take for upgrade to the 99 as soon as possible? Most of the above info already posted is correct. Burbank and Oakland seem to have the quickest upgrades for the Beech 99. You could also start out flying a Chieftain or Lance at one base and then transfer to another base. Billings, MT has frequent openings for Beech 99 Captains.

-What would be the best one to take PERIOD for QOL reasons/cost of living? My vote would be Phoenix or Portland

-I am interviewing for the April 4 class...any chance Dallas would be open by then for a Navajo slot? Only the pilot recruiter or Flight Dept. in Burbank would know the answer to that.

-Could I move to Dallas as soon as it opens?
You could put a standing bid in, meaning once there is an opening, you could get transferred to Dallas, assuming there isn't someone in front of you (seniority-wise) who already had a standing bid in for that base.

-I heard seniority is by base, does this mean I can't upgrade to a 99 at another base without going back down to the Lance?
Read what Herman said. He's 100% correct on this one.

-When they say Portland is for the 402/Navajo, do you just take the one aircraft that is open or is it a dual aircraft type place? One aircraft only.

Good luck!

Is everyone based at Bur or do they have outstations? And what aircraft do they have?

For Lances & Chieftains, you start & finish your day AT BUR. For the Be99, there are only a few runs from BUR, the rest are UPS runs based in ONT, or outstationed. The only outstationed ones I can think of off-hand are Bakersfeild & Las Vegas. Oh, San Luis Opisbo also I believe.

I think Santa Maria also...

Part-time at AMF PHX?

Anyone know whether you can fly part-time for AMFlight? I've got a pretty good Part 91 piston-twin job in Phx, but I'd like to do some 135 stuff part-time..I'd be pretty happy running around in the Lance..anyone?

yes, it's called part time on call. PTOC.
