A couple other things to consider:

1. Airlines using hired Regionals, ie, CHQ, ACA, Colgan, MESA etc... are no different that Fractional Companies. The parent company hires an airline to fly their routes for a set fee. They aviod hiring, training, maintenace, scheduling, etc... All the do is pay the set fee per route.

2. Why does nobody blame the Fractionals for loss of flying? More companies are using Fractional ownership to avoid airline hassles, as well as wealthy individuals. Should the Fractional Pilots all be **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**ed?

Does this make any sence?

Food for thought I hope.

Yea, and The President of the United States flying on Airforce One, is also cutting into airlines pax revenue.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.....

HAHAHA...PHEW...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHA....it's the fractional pilots who are stealing your passengers...HAAHAHAHAHAHA....you can't be serious?

I must have heard it all!

Man, I hope I bit into some flamebait!!!

Looks like some people are dismissing the volume of people that fly on the fractionals. I for one would like to know some figures before I dismiss them.

Look, people have a right to any mode of transportation they chose and can afford. Would one also "blame" bus, car, steamships, or pogo stick makers for the woes of the airlines? The people who fly on a fractional in fact OWN that aircraft. They are the wealthy athletes, rock stars, movie idols, and business tycoons like Donald Trump or Bill Gates. Many corporate aircraft have been sold off in favor of the economics of owning 1/8th of the airplane, instead of the whole bird, when it is not utilized all the time. Perhaps the starter of this thread did not mean to imply that fractional aviation should be eliminated, but that is the implication of my read of it.

Then to suggest that the owners of these fractional airplanes don't pay for maintenance is ludicrous. After one purchases a "share" of a multi million dollar aircraft, he/she still must pay $2000 to $2500 an hour for the payroll of the pilots and mechanics, fuel, insurance, etc.. Once you "buy" your fraction of the plane, the costs are just beginning to start.

The point is, every one has a right to compete, and win (or lose) the transportation dollar of the traveling public. If one is rich enough, he can travel via a Lamborgini, Rolls-Royce or private jet. Is John Travolta with his private Boeing 707 depriving the airlines of a fare? Yup, and he has every right to do so......he can afford it.
