How bad is this going to suck?

Thinking about going to Opa-locka..I imagine there "might" be a few other flying in there as well.

If it was anything like Detroit last year try not to depart after the game. Spend the night and leave in the morning. Just trying to get our clearance took better than 45 minutes and another 20 minutes to taxi and our team won!:)

It cannot be worse than Detroit last year, what a crappy place for the Superbowl.

Jeez, that is not bad at all.

How about a non-sporting event night at Teterhole, low IFR.

Clearance: N**&* IFR to blah blah blah.

Papers rustling.

Ah, Um, it looks like you are about number 47 on the list. Call back in like 2 hours.

2 hours later

Uh, um you are now number 16 on the list. Call back in another hour.

1+45 later, N**&* cleared for takeoff.

Opa Locka is right next to the stadium. I'll be picking up my banners out of there all day of the super bowl. Look out for the bright yellow Pawnees scooting around on the south west end of OPF. I'm already getting nervous about the quagmire. We can't depart the field without being cleared for special banner departure routes. Luckily those come from the tower though. Or should I say the house boat. They set up a makeshift tower there in a house boat RV looking thing that sits on top of cargo ship containers.

South Florida will be a much easier situation. While OPF and FLL are under the TFR, Sunday night departures will be busy after 12pm but OPF is better choice for morning because you are not competing with commercial traffic in and out. Many more routes and experienced controllers.
Sunday night you can go to one of the airports outside the TFR but then the traffic gets you as well. The traffic flow is set for all in and all out so once you are there, you are there for awhile.

You know I don't honestly remember whether we had a reservation. However, I think if we did it was for getting in not getting out. At DTW you had people taxing without clearances blocking taxi ways trying to get clearance. I lucked out and kept requesting a PDC and I heard clearance call my N number and I was set except for the boneheads blocking my taxi to the runway.
