I know this is a stretch, but does anyone have any info on how hard it is to get a flying gig in Chile? I haven't found much (in English) on line about it. Whats the aviation scene like down there? Is it hard to get hired? I figure being as rugged and rural as it is there should at least be some good cargo flying to do. Any info would be greatly appreciated....

Been down there a fair amount. Outside of Santiago i doubt there is little yet. at SCEL they have a sigificant corp operation. I think alot of it is geared towards flying miners to remote strips.

Ok, cool. Any idea what it takes for a foreigner to get a flying job there? I doubt I can just walk in with a Commercial Multi and get a job. I've looked on the internet and can't find anything about foreigners.

here in Mexico you just cant get a Pilot Job if youre not Mexican, maybe in Chile its the same

Huh. Thanks. From what it looks like, Chile accepts FAA certifications without a conversion. I just don't know about the job market there. I know that if you get offered a job, you can get a work visa.
