As somone who's just converted an FAA ATP to an Australian ATPL, I can confirm it's not a straight swap. It's not quite as insane as going from an FAA to JAR license but there are exams and a flight test to do.

I understand that. However, most countries have their own requirements and certifications if you want to fly for hire in their country. I was just trying to figure out how much ass pain is involved.
