I would certainly agree that you should go somewhere else if you want multi engine time. In the last 6 months there has been ONE Baron run up for bid. At that rate, I'll get my upgrade in about 20 years.
I remember thinking it would be fun to do that kind of work until the company I used to work for filled in on some routes for them. Walking in the door at 3 am after flying since 3 pm isn't much fun.
I'd still do it though. A paycheck is always a good thing.
Flight Express' days are numbered.
Airnet may be able to weather the storm of "Check-21" legislation.
87% of Airnet's business is check-flying. Flight Express is about the same.
Flight Express cannot possibly sustain itself on the LAB contracts it currently has. And since there has been NO PLANS at Flight Express to pursue package delivery...
ALL banks in this country will be in FULL COMPLIANCE with Check-21 no later than October/2004. Meaning ALL check flying will cease to exist in LESS THAN 11 MONTHS.
Bottom line....don't look to Flight Express for building time. I'm certain we will begin furloughing pilots soon as we start hemmoraging bank customers.
Then again, if you'd like to get in for a couple of months...might be worth your time?
Also, we've had 2 Barons painted in company colors in the last 3 weeks. You don't need a painted baron to haul checks in. So what does this mean? Company for sale maybe? Purely speculation. I haven't heard this from anyone. It just seems odd that there hasn't been a Baron painted since I've been here in Nashville 9 months and all of a sudden 2 in a very short time period.
So much for that recent resume' submission on my part...LOL
It figures after I get to reasonable 135+ times that the industry imploded. Guess it's back to the pattern and practice area for another year or so. Seriously, I enjoy instructing, but looking foward to moving into single-pilot 135 ops. Any of you guys know of anyone on the east coast thats hiring? Thanks.
Don't be too quick to give up on 135. It is natural to predict the worst case doom and gloom when news like this comes out. We don't really know what will happen a year from now. There may be technical glitches that people haven't thought about that will keep all the 'dogs in the air a few more years. Remember when everyone said American Eagle wouldn't be hiring for years? Now their talking about hiring a lot in '04. Who knows.
