To the pilot of that airplane that landed on the highway in Jacksonville today after an engine failure...Your Lucky...Great Job...

4 miles from the airport KCRG
In the clouds
Clouds at 700'
Power Lines everywhere
Rush Hour Traffic

Not a scratch on the pilot, not a scratch on the airplane, not a scratch on anyone or anything on the ground.

I would have **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** myself if the engine quit well Im in the clouds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree...

...the pilot did a amazing job. Ready for this? It was his fourth day on line. He's a newbie. I always say what a pain the ground and flight training is. ( I hated memorizing the flows and repeating them verbatim) But, here's proof that they may come in handy.

I personally want to congratulate Jeff on beautiful emergency procedure and offer to buy him a beer (or tequila)! Hey Jeff, still want to be based in Craig?

Gary

hey, i heard that happen as i just landed at CRG. the guy sounded really calm and cool. Good job dude!! God Bless!

Wow

Tight Landing, great IOE at FLX, my hat goes off to ya, bravo!

I don't care what the insurance companies say, I'll take a twin over any piston single, especially in IMC and/or night.

Great Job Man!!

Unfortunately, this is not uncommon at flight express.

Hope you get to the Barron soon.

Thanks for the great posts guys. Believe it or not that was the second IO-520 to blow up on me. Same thing about 7 years ago in a C-210 in Colorado (luckilly VMC over farm country). Both cases could have been worse. My hats off to all single-engine night/IMC operators. Unfortunately most of us are forced to take the risk to gain the experience we need. Two branches of military service and 2000 hrs of HELO and the Centurion has almost gotten me twice. I'm just so glad no one (INCLUDING ME), got hurt. I'm going back to the turbine world ASAP!

Fly Safe,
Jeff

That was you hoss?

Congratulations! I took my 141 flight training at CRG field back in 1992. Back then, there wasn't any suitable off airport landing fields anywhere near that airport, I would imagine things haven't changed for the better since then.

In 92 or 93, some cops were flying a skylane on some kind of patrol and they lost an engine in that city. Didn't work out so good for them and it was VFR.

Good luck to you...glad you made it out of there in one piece.

Ditto. FLX '03-'04

I used to work for Flight Express many years ago.. And my very first flight I lost all electrical down near Miami. LOL Keep on your toes.. There a good company and you'll learn a lot. But as with all airplanes that reach that many cycles.. there going to have there fair share of problems! As with those others whom have already congratulated you. My hats off to ya buddy! Looks as though you did a great job.. keep up the good work. And I'm glad things worked out so well!!

Nice work

Don't quit now. The first week at FLX is the worst... at least it was for me. Everything went wrong... vacuum, electric, rough engine... nothing like yours though. I didn't know where to go or what to do. I just closed my eyes and went forward. It gets better... or you get used to it. :D I enjoyed my time there and the pay and benefits were good.

Good to see you back Gary. Thanks for giving me the chance. Still collecting? PM me if you get the time. I was the toy bearer from New Orleans who went to Opa Locka, circa 2002.

Sup Dawg!

How you doing? Where are you now? Collecting has stopped for now. Moving and no room. Who's in the nose section?

Hey, thank YOU for slugging it out single pilot.

Good to hear from you!
