Heyas,

As the above poster said, the Tri-Rail is pretty cheap. 4 bucks I think. Go to their website and checkout the schedules http://www.tri-rail.com/

There's also the Super Shuttle. I think it's $30 or so, and takes forever, depending on how many people have stops.

But here's the scoop on the train. The darn thing almost NEVER runs on time, and there is a whole bunch of track construction. On top of that, the shuttle from FLL to the station takes FOREVER, and the shuttle WON'T wait if the train is late.

The ride from the station to MIA is brief.

If I was commuting out of MIA, I'd get on the train in FLL 3 hours before of my flight, that was scheduled to get in 2:15 before my flight. I usually had to run to catch my flight.

Going the other way (MIA-FLL), the train is also almost always late, and as I said, the shuttle in FLL won't wait for a late train (even though all they do is the train station !!), so you're stuck at the station, with no cabs. It's about a 40 minute walk through a demilitarized zone to the employee lot if you're feeling lucky.

Spend the $4 on Tri Rail or if you are that cheap, take the bus. Plan on 6 hours to get there by bus.

Or just do what the Canadians do and wait for the subway by the beach.

The tri-rail is ok if you take it early in the morning. I have no problems with the train being on time when I pick it up in MIA to FLL. I only pay a 1.60 each way with the employee discount program.

Even better: Head over to the beach and look for a freshly discarded raft, which may or may not have just deposited Haitians/Cubans ashore the night before. Hop on the raft, ride the gulfstream current north to FLL, jump off at the park just east of the airport. (hurry, got to get on land to invoke the Wet Foot/Dry Foot policy) Oh wait...you're looking to go the other direction. Sorry.

I agree with the shuttle, believe it's called airport express (red/white vans about$21.00). Takes you from airport to airport without bus/train hopping. Last time I did (1 mo. ago) took about 1 hour with a full van of people going to many spots in between. Other times I've had a straight shot, just luck of the draw. Never tried the rail, suppose it could be cheaper/faster as long as you time it right (have to bus between both airports and the train).

You could also jump on a Gulfstream repo flight, they are practically scheduled flights now days.
