CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (AP) -- A US Airways Express flight turned back to Charlotte on Tuesday because a passenger fought with a flight attendant.
The male passenger was arrested when the plane returned to Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, said Benet Wilson, a spokeswoman for Phoenix-based Mesa Air Group, which operates the regional jet.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police did not return calls seeking information on the passenger.
Flight 5746 was en route to Birmingham, Alabama, when the disturbance took place.
"A passenger did get violent with the flight attendant," Wilson said. She said she had no additional details. "We're still trying to determine what set the whole thing off."
US Airways spokesman Dave Castelveter said 22 passengers were aboard the 50-seat regional jet, with a crew of two pilots and the lone flight attendant.
Wilson said the male flight attendant was taken to the hospital as a precaution, then released
