Just watched an Options Legacy fly across the country 4+ hours above FL350. It might have been a repo but I kinda doubt it. Wonder who wore the oxygen mask for 4 hours? We haven't gone 91K yet so I wonder who would put their ticket at risk by not putting the mask on above 350? Not you I hope.

Firstly who cares if they were at > FL350 without a mask on!

But my points:

A - stupid rule in the first place
B - Stupid fools who live day in and day out flying and enforcing the rule! yeh I love wearing the mask!! Come on it wasnt designed to be worn for hours on end!
C- Why is it we can fly the same plane 91k and then under 135 and suddenly we must fly with the mask on above FL350, WTF stupid type of rule is that, why isnt it just FL410 across the board??

Did you really sit at the computer for 4+ hours watching the plane go across the country?

You guys don't get it

Options is in contract negotiations, why would you do the company any favors? The 1108 constantly tells us do nothing illegal for or against the company. Flying above 350 without one guy wearing the mask is illegal. Sorry about the fuel burn, duh!

skiandsurf no I didn't watch it for 4 hours, flight tracker lets you see the history, which includes altitude, for any flight you care to type in.

The Feds do, and they have violated people in the past for not following their rules.

XTW

PS I also believe it is crazy to have separate rules under different Parts of the regs, however it is my job to follow them.

there is a reason (sort of)

At 135 ground school the instructor said the logic behind the difference in O2 requirements for 121 and 135 was due to the difference in the size of the equipment. An airliner being larger, a pressurization leak would not be as bad as a leak on the average 135 airplane. I realize the legacy is mostly a 121 airplane that flops just uses as a 135 airplane, but the regs clearly state over FL350 in 135 service one crewmember must be wearing the mask. If the feds change the rules then no problem. Until then you do what a professional pilot does, fly by the rules. Do you think options will take any of the heat or help you in any way in case of a violation? HA! Again do nothing illegal for or against the company.
