When you hear of the major flight schools, where are most of them located? Florida, California, and Arizona, right? Texas is rarely mentioned, at least from those that I talk to. What are some good training operations, both parts 61 and 141, in Texas that I might be able to look into?

Is that where the women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano? :D

I use to fly out of International Flight Center at KSAT, I got my PPL there. Great School. Depends on what part of Texas you're lookin into. San Antonio has International Flight Center, Wright Flyers. Austin has a place lookin into Alliance Flight, I think. DFW area...ATP, Skymates both in Arlington; Monarch air has 3 DFW locations(Addison, Collin County, Dallas Redbird); American Flyers is at Addison. Who knows how many flight schools are out in the boonies of East and West Texas...PM if ya need specific details on anything.

I'm in DFW. Ditto what was said earlier about Addison and Arlington. In Houston, I'd go with Fletcher Aviation at Hobby. They're probably the best from what I've heard. They're also who I rent from when I go back home.

Pilots Choice Aviation

Pilots Choice in Georgetown TX. GTU. I did my instrument and all my multi ratings with them. They will teach you how to fly, it's a great training environment. Austin is right next door for approaches as well as Killeen and Ft Hood. They have some crappy apartments they will rent you for cheap too. Check it out.

I'm at TSTC right now, and frankly, I can't really recommend it at the moment. Most people are only flying 2 or so times a week, and out of my class (the ones who started last September, about 60 or so) only about 2 have gotten their PPL, and they had gotten a good amount of hours before coming here.

It's a nice school, good people, new planes (Diamond DA-20-C1s), but the hour building is slow. I don't know how often people get to fly at other part 141s but it's slow as molasses here. Just my .002 cents.
