I was talking with the examiner/chief pilot at a local part 141 school and he said that business is off about 60 percent from last year. He corroborated his data with other flight schools and examiners. I'm curious, is this is the case at other flight schools as well? Is the flight training business really that far in the tank?

Nope all across the board business is up about 20% from last year.
But that's in SW Florida...

Most of the larger flight schools (part 141) that I am familiar with in Texas, Florida, California, and Arizona are all doing quite well and are profitable present day. I think the FSI's and DCA's of the industry will always make the $$$$.... Your smaller part 61 mom and pop schools will always struggle.3 5 0

April was a terrible, terrible month, but may and june have been good so far. I'd say this is about an average year. All four of our primary trainers are flying at least twice a day and the twins/ complex airplanes are being consistently rented.
