Transitioning from the military here, and wondering what companies are using these days? Obviously Jeppesen is the big one we use...what are some of the other companies competing with Jeppesen, and what they offer. Many thanks!!!!

I assume you are talking about navigation type stuff.

2 choices, NOS (now FAA...basically government pubs what you used in the mil) and Jeppesen. Except for one brief experiment at one rinky dink airline I flew at, every professional outfit I've ever seen or heard about uses Jepps. There really is NO competition.

I wouldn't worry about what they offer. Any required charts/materials will be provided by your employer. Same goes for training materials.

There may be some outfits out there using NOS, but I imagine they are few and far between.

Now if you're talking about just bopping around in your Cessner BugSmasher or your Pooper Chickapee then yea, you will probably see most of the those guys using NOS. I think the only real choice for VFR charts, if you care, is NOS, but they are not required for part 121 or 135 IFR ops.

Essentially all civilian operations use Jepps, and essentially all of them will expect you to be able read and explain Jepp plates in great detail at an interview. Jepps are a good thing...
