I read a previous post about commuting for Flight Options. It was a bit confusing though. One post says you get a positive space ticket and in that exact post it says you have to live within 90 minutes of domicile. Which is it? I need to live in Minneapolis and want to know if FO is an option for me.

P.S. I know Netjets is better, but I don't meet the minimum requirments.

Not to my knowledge that MSP is going to work for a new hire. However I have heard they have made exceptions for some. Pretty quick here they are going to have to change the domicle policy, after what NJA and CS is getting. Why in the world would anyone want to work for a sweat shop like Options.

If FO can get a pilot base thing worked up that makes sense for those of us that don't want to live in the midwest I would be sending in my app. It ain't the best but it is still better than 135. Why not NJ? I am not interested in living in one of their 5 (or so) new hire locations. That is why I have not applied to either yet.

Just so you new hires know, FLOPS use to live anywhere you want, so asking about a certain place to live was a moot point, but now without a union we have no say in what they say. I live in a tier 2 airport (large tier 2) and i'm stressing that it too will be taken away. And the move or quit talk.

Please send in your cards.

There is a big, big difference between the old domicile policies and the one they are applying to the new hires. New hires have to fly out of the tier 1 domicile they hired into on day 1 and fly back there on day 8. If they don't live in that domicile they are on their own to get back to where they live.

Flops is 135!....well almost, except for all those regs and stuff. Management has been working long hours to find loop holes in simple regs like 14 hours duty. On long days Flops will approve you to work past 14 hours. What many have tried over the years in regards to the regs, Flops is trying on a daily basis. The memory retention at headquarters is about 10 hours or until the next shift change (wichever comes first).

So do you have to live within a certain distance from the domicle you get?
Do you get a choice, or does the company pick and your stuck there?

Example: Living about 2 hours away and just making the drive.
