I just recently learned that American Eagle pilots had to pay to jumpseat (unless the flight is totally full and they actually sit in the jumpseat, then it's free), and I had no idea this was the case for pilots, always thought they could commute for free, since it is free on so many other airlines. So I'm curious what the situation is elsewhere.... if people at CoEx(expressjet), Skywest, Trans States and anyone else could jot down their policies, I'd appreciate it. Curious about benefits for family/parents as well please. Thanks.

At COEX, jumpseating on COEX/CAL is free even if there are seats available in the back, but CAL only accepts as many jumpseaters as actual jumpseats, so you may end up using a pass just to get on. Jumpseating on other airlines is of course free.

At ACA, jumpseating on United/Delta/ACA is also free, as well as all other airlines.

Huh...wha....da-no? I think your terminology of jumpseat is abit jaded. If you jumpseat (slang) you are using another carrier to "bumm" a ride or aka hitch-hiking. If you are "riding the jumpseat" you are most likely stuck there because they don't have any seats in the back.

As for American Eagle...you can jumpseat on any carrier (121) for free as long as the captain/gate agent accepts you to ride.

Our non-rev policy is that any pilot with less than 5 years must pay for the D-2 charges which are dependant on the route traveled. (ie DFW to ORD is 10.35 for coach). Over five years you get free coach service anywhere domestic, but first class will cost you.

I believe Eagle's D-2 travel policy is the same as American pilots policy but please let them fill you in on the Q & A's.

If you Non-rev and ride the "jumpseat" then no charge due to pain and suffering from riding the rumble seat.

I hope I didn't confuse you.
