I've been using an old "bookbag" to hold all of my supplies and books. The time has come to replace it, and I don't want another bookbag. What should I get? There are several nice (and cheap) attache bags, duffle bags, briefcase-style leather bags, and even soft-sided pilot cases on the market to choose from. What are some reccommendations?

I used what I believe is called a presentation briefcase. It is not like an attache case, but has a three fold top. Lawyers use these cases to haul their materials to court, although pilots were the first I saw use these cases.

These cases usually have side pockets, in which you can store all kinds of items, and side pockets within the case. You can find them in all kinds of sizes. You want one at least big enough to store your headset and perhaps something like a Jepp manual. I'd suggest against getting a case that's too big, lest people think that you're a nerdy flight student.

Try looking in some place like Office Depo or Office Max.

Hope that helps.
