So is anyone crunching numbers on whether to go to the new and improved 401(k) rather than stick with the traditional pension?

I'm thinking for the 20-something recent hire, it's a no-brainer to take the 401(k). For the 40-something or older pilot who has a couple of years vested, it will be a tougher call.

I am 46. I will stay with the pension. I have $498,000 in my various 401k's and $210,000 in other investments. I also own my home, so I am hedging with the pension. I'm trying to get diversity.

Next your gonna tell us you are 29...so you can all makes us feel like crap ?

:)

I will take the money now and put it in my account thank you very much. It would be nice to know if the company would or could cash out what we have in the pension plan already and put it into our 401k.
