Certainly the reduction of the LF for Sept was due mostly to the weather in Florida, but it is my belief that FL needs to move some of their 717's to the Midwest and Far West to spread the risk. They are just too heavily dependant on the East. They could do the same thing LUV is doing, and take some of them off the thin routes and move them to a more profitable domain like DFW or MDW.

Flyi has definitely put a dent in both yields and to some degree LF. Couple that with the continued expansions of WN, B6, and Spirit, added with a refocus of resources by DL to the East Coast and a possible LCC version of UAIR, it's time for a change.

Your about a day late and a dollor short. We have moved more and more to the west (look at DFW). And IFly has put a dent in everyone with the $30 fares but mostly thier own bank account. But 70+% of the people in this country live EAST of the Miss River. LCC's will go head to head but I think they will find balences between thenselves just as the larger companies have done. But if you really belive that UAir will thrive just because they want Embrear 170/195 then passs the Crack-pipe. I fear very much for my friends futures and families there, because I believe that they either will not survive or if the do it will be a much smaller and less threatening version we see today. while I am NOT saying FL is bullet proof or perfect we have a good plan, great leadership and I hope a little luck on our side. Because in the end if I knew how things turn out I wouldn't be a Pilot, I be RICH. But Im not.
